Lateral is a technical search firm for early and growth-stage AI companies, built to bring executive-search rigor to the most complex technical hires. Our mission is to open access to world-class ML talent beyond the walls of big labs.
Our founding team spent the past decade building technical organizations at OpenAI, AWS, Meta, Harvey, and Robinhood. We’ve led frontier research hiring, designed scalable systems, and helped define what high-signal recruiting looks like. Those experiences gave us firsthand insight into how exceptional technical teams are built, and we’re now applying that differentiated expertise across the AI ecosystem.
In our first year, we’ve built a business of meaningful scale and earned the trust of many leading AI teams, entirely through referrals and network effects. We believe the enduring companies of this era will be defined by depth of expertise and judgment. AI makes work faster, not necessarily better, and we’re building Lateral to be the talent partner for that reality.
