The Role
Lateral is leading end-to-end research and ML builds for frontier AI companies. As those partnerships deepen, we’re seeing intense demand to help clients scale the adjacent layers of their technical organizations across software and infrastructure. This role exists to meet that opportunity.
You’ll work alongside our founding team to strengthen continuity and context for clients, reduce search entropy, and raise hiring signal across the stack. The position plays a central role in how we execute searches, build systems, and deliver a premiere experience across every engagement.
In practice, you will:

Own searches across the full technical stack where research, infrastructure, and product intersect

Operate as a trusted advisor to founders and talent leaders on strategy for roles that are often unscoped, deeply technical, and critical to company trajectory

Drive process discipline and generate proprietary market intelligence that compounds across searches and clients

Network across top labs, venture firms, and high-signal operator communities

Mentor teammates and raise the bar for research-grade recruiting craft across the organization

Location & Compensation
Lateral is a remote-first company with founding members in San Francisco, New York, and Washington, D.C. We’ll hire the right person wherever you are. The team travels frequently to ML conferences and client headquarters domestically and internationally.
We offer top-percentile base salaries and uncapped commission for exceptional performance. There are no convoluted draws or politics, and compensation is directly aligned with results. There is also meaningful opportunity for equity participation.
